If you desire a VA Headstone for a grave in a non-national cemetery, we will gladly file an application. Please note that individual cemeteries may have charges for the base of the headstone and to actually set the stone. The time period from when we submit the application to when the memorial headstone is placed on the grave can take as long as 6 to 8 months depending how backed up the orders are at the VA.

Veteran Eligibility
Actual eligibility for burial in a National Cemetery is determined by the Cemetery at the time of need. Alfonso Dawson Mortuary will submit an application for burial along with a copy of the DD214 discharge paper. Approvals can be received without a DD214, but it may take a day ot two for the cemetery personal to research the Veterans discharge status and eligibility.
There are two National Cemetery in the State of Georgia. Although we have coordinated and directed services at both locations. The Marietta National Cemetery is close to new interments.
